Excellence through innovation: ARC Europe’s commitment to the future of roadside assistance
The Road Patrol Training for Excellence 2025, held from 21 to 24 October 2025 in Lausanne, Switzerland, was far more than a technical event — it was a statement of leadership and commitment.
Co-organised by FIA Region I and ARC Europe, and hosted by TCS (Touring Club Suisse), this annual training reaffirmed ARC Europe’s mission: to equip its network of roadside professionals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to face the mobility challenges of tomorrow.
As vehicles evolve, so must the expertise of those who keep them moving. The 2025 edition focused on the technologies shaping the new era of mobility — particularly the rapid rise of electric vehicles and connected systems — ensuring that every patrol remains ready to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative roadside solutions.
A training designed for tomorrow’s mobility challenges
What were the 2025 training highlights?
The four-day programme in Lausanne combined hands-on learning, knowledge-sharing, and innovation. Participants from across Europe explored four cutting-edge topics:
- EV Safety First: Managing high-voltage and high-risk situations in electric vehicles.
- From Battery to Motor: Understanding the full anatomy of electric drivetrains.
- Smart Tyre Repair: Perfecting the use of the multifit wheel for faster, more adaptable repairs.
- From Keys to Modules: Discovering the digital technologies behind modern vehicle access systems.
By blending practical sessions with manufacturer-specific insights, the training enabled participants to tackle real-world breakdowns with greater precision and confidence — reinforcing ARC Europe’s ambition to set the highest standards of roadside service quality across the continent.
A network built on collaboration and expertise
16 Automobile Clubs from across Europe — Touring, The AA, ANWB, ÖAMTC, ADAC, TCS, ACL, ARC Europe France, ARC Europe Poland, ACP, Autoliitto, RACE, A24, LAS, HAK, and AMSM — came together to exchange experience, share best practices, and strengthen cross-border cooperation.
Supported by expert trainers from The AA , ÖAMTC, Touring, and Prolux, under the coordination of ARC Europe’s Learning & Development team, the event reinforced the collective ambition to raise roadside standards across the continent.
This 2025 edition also benefited from the contribution of several key industry partners — ProLux, CLS, Hella Gutmann, and Lotus Europe — whose expertise and technical support helped enhance the realism and quality of the assessments. A special highlight was the use of a Lotus Emeya, provided by Lotus Europe, allowing participants to test their skills on one of the latest high-performance electric vehicles on the market.
Recognising excellence: the Road Patrol Team of the Year
A highlight of each edition is the 16 assessments challenge, where teams demonstrate their technical mastery, safety awareness, and problem-solving agility. The best-performing patrol earns the prestigious “Road Patrol Team of the Year” title — a recognition of exceptional teamwork and service excellence.
But beyond competition, the event fosters pride and belonging within ARC Europe’s network. It symbolises the shared mission to keep the European assistance industry evolving, no matter the complexity of the road ahead.
Looking ahead to Bavaria 2026
The next edition will be hosted by ADAC in Penzing, Bavaria, from 13 to 16 October 2026. Once again, Europe’s top patrols will gather to share expertise, test new technologies, and continue building a network ready for the future of mobility.
The 2025 edition proved once more that ARC Europe doesn’t just follow change — it leads it. By investing in people, technology, and collaboration, the group continues to set the standard for roadside excellence across Europe.
